I recently had the incredible opportunity to DJ at a special NFL and NFL FLAG event in London. This wasn’t just any gig, it was a day dedicated to sport, young people, community, and inspiration, all centred around celebrating British NFL star Efe Obada.

Being behind the decks for an event like this meant more than just playing tracks. It was about creating an atmosphere that matched the energy on the field and helped bring the whole day to life.

Bringing the energy to a day of sport and community

The event gathered young people from all over London to take part in NFL FLAG football, alongside activities and entertainment designed to give them positive experiences through sport.

My role was clear: provide the soundtrack that would keep the energy high and the crowd motivated throughout the day.

Sports events have a unique vibe compared to weddings or parties. The music needs to complement the action on the field, keep players pumped, and maintain a lively atmosphere for everyone watching.

I mixed high-energy Afrobeats, Dancehall, Afro House, Gqom, Amapiano and crowd favourites to keep the place upbeat and flexible. The music shifted with the event’s pace, from warm-ups to intense games and celebrations.

When you have dozens of young athletes running around playing NFL FLAG, you need music that matches their energy and keeps the momentum going.

Celebrating Efe Obada’s inspiring journey

One of the most special parts of the day was having Efe Obada at the heart of the event.

Efe’s story is one of the most inspiring British connections to the NFL. He discovered American football right here in London, then went on to build a career in the NFL. Now, he’s a key figure in growing the sport across the UK.

The event also marked the launch of the Efe Obada Foundation, which focuses on giving back and creating opportunities for young people.

Seeing Efe interact with the next generation, encouraging them and sharing his journey, made the event’s purpose feel even more powerful. It was a reminder of how sport and community can open doors and inspire dreams.

Music is more than just background noise

One of the things I love most about DJing is how music can completely change the feel of an event.

At a sports activation like this, the DJ isn’t just playing songs quietly in the background. You’re helping to create the environment.

The right track can build excitement before a game starts, give players an extra boost, get the crowd involved, and turn moments into memories.

That means I’m always watching and listening, reading the room and the field, and adjusting the music to fit what’s happening.

Being an open-format DJ is a huge advantage here. I can move between Afrobeats, Amapiano, Hip Hop, R&B, Dancehall, House, Pop, and club classics with ease. This flexibility lets me tailor the soundtrack to different audiences and moments.

The rise of NFL FLAG and its future in the UK

NFL FLAG is the non-contact version of American football, and it’s growing fast worldwide.

The NFL has invested a lot in bringing flag football to young people in the UK through community programmes. These give more children the chance to try American football in a fun, safe way.

Flag football will also make its Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, which makes events like this even more exciting. Introducing the sport to the next generation now means they could be the stars of tomorrow.

Watching the young players enjoy the game made it clear why NFL FLAG is gaining popularity so quickly.

From the football field to the dancefloor

One of the best things about being a DJ is how varied my weeks can be.

One day I might be spinning at a wedding or rooftop party, the next at a corporate event or festival. Then suddenly, I’m standing beside an NFL FLAG football field, providing the soundtrack to a major sports and community day.

That variety keeps things fresh and exciting.

Music belongs everywhere, and I love bringing it to different spaces and audiences.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this event happen and for trusting me, DJ Frizzie, to provide the music for such a special day.

This one definitely goes down as a highlight in my DJ career.

Looking for a DJ who can bring energy to your sports event or brand activation?

If you’re planning a sports event, brand activation, corporate event, festival, private party, or even a wedding, having the right DJ can make all the difference.

I’m a London-based open-format female DJ with experience across a wide range of music styles including Afrobeats, Amapiano, House, Afro House, Hip Hop, R&B, Dancehall, Pop, Garage, Disco, and club classics.

This versatility means I can create a soundtrack that fits your audience, brand, and the energy you want to build.

For example, at the NFL FLAG event, I used a mix of high-energy Afrobeats and Hip Hop to keep the young athletes motivated, then switched to House and Pop to keep the crowd engaged during breaks.

If you want a DJ who understands how to read the room and keep the vibe just right, get in touch to discuss your event and DJ needs.

Music and sport have a unique way of bringing people together. When combined, they create moments that inspire and energise communities. Being part of the NFL and NFL FLAG event in London was a reminder of that power — and how a DJ’s role goes far beyond just playing tracks.

If you want to bring that same energy and connection to your next event, I’m here to help make it happen.
